FLORIOGRAPHY

Florography, also known as “the language of flowers”, is a symbolic form of communication that assigns specific meanings to different types of flowers, colors and floral arrangements. This form of expression developed in the Victorian era in Europe, where the language of flowers was used to convey messages and feelings in a more discreet and elegant way, especially in situations where social conventions limited the direct expression of emotions.
In floriography, each flower and color has a particular meaning, and the combination of different flowers in a bouquet can convey a complex message. For example, a red rose may symbolize passionate love, while a violet may represent modesty. The choice of specific flowers, their quantity, color and arrangement in a bouquet can combine to form elaborate messages.
Although floriography had its heyday in the Victorian era, today some people still find charm in using flowers to express feelings and emotions in a symbolic and artistic way. However, it is important to keep in mind that specific interpretations may vary by culture and region, and not everyone assigns the same meanings to each flower.

Below, we provide you with some of the most common meanings associated with some flowers in floriography. Keep in mind that these interpretations may vary according to cultures and traditions:
-Red Rose: Passionate love and romance.
-White Rose: Purity, innocence and pure love.
-Yellow Rose: Friendship and joy.
-Black Rose: Eternal love
-Tulip: Declaration of love and prosperity.
-Orchid: Beauty, love and refinement.

These are just some of the most common associations, and floriography can include a wide variety of flowers and shades of meaning. Also, keep in mind that nowadays, many people may choose flowers based on their own preferences and experiences, and not necessarily on traditional meanings.
We have selected a group of flowers and colors that will help express your feelings, we invite you to visit our FLORIOGRAPHY section.

– Enclose a card or note explaining the meaning of the flowers you have selected. This adds a personal touch and ensures that the recipient understands the message behind the floral arrangement.
– Don’t be afraid to get creative and personalize your message. You can choose flowers that have special meaning to you and the person you are sending the message to.
Remember that floriography is a form of artistic and symbolic expression, and interpretations may vary. The most important thing is that your message is authentic and has a special meaning for you and for the person who will receive the flowers.

Although floriography has traditional associations between certain flowers and their meanings, there are no strict rules about which flowers should be used in specific messages. The interpretation of the language of flowers can vary according to culture, region and time. In addition, personal preferences and the relationship between sender and recipient also play a role in the choice of flowers.
In the Victorian era, several books detailing the meaning of different flowers were published, which contributed to the popularization of floriography. However, these associations were not universally accepted or rigorously followed.
Today, many people may choose flowers based on their traditional meanings, but it is also common for flowers to be selected simply for their beauty or personal significance to the sender and recipient. In short, although there are traditional associations, the choice of flowers to express feelings can be quite personal and there are no strict rules to follow.

NATURAL FLOWER ARRANGEMENTS

The lifespan of natural roses in a bouquet can vary depending on several factors, including care conditions, the freshness of the flowers upon receipt and the specific type of roses. However, under ideal conditions, following certain care, you can expect natural roses to typically last 5 to 12 days in a bouquet. Here are some tips for prolonging the freshness of roses:
Fresh Cut:If you buy or receive fresh roses, cut them diagonally just before putting them in water. This makes it easier for them to absorb water.
Clean, Fresh Water: Place roses in a container of clean, fresh water. Change the water every two days or sooner if it appears cloudy.
Remove Submerged Leaves: Remove leaves submerged in water to prevent bacterial growth.
Regular Stem Trimming: Every few days, cut the ends of the stems a little at a diagonal. This allows for better water absorption.

Avoid Exposure to Heat and Direct Sun: Place the bouquet in a cool place away from direct sunlight and heat sources such as radiators or appliances.
Use Floral Preservative: Some bouquets come with sachets of floral preservative. Use it as directed to help prolong the freshness of the flowers.

The life span of rehydrated roses with floral tubes can depend on several factors, including proper care, the initial freshness of the flowers and environmental conditions. Here are some tips for prolonging the life of roses in floral arrangements with floral tubes:
-Continuous Hydration:Floral tubes provide a direct supply of water to each stem. Make sure the tubes are filled with water and check hydration regularly.
-Fresh Cut Stems: Before placing the roses in the floral tubes, make a fresh cut at the ends of the stems at an angle. This facilitates water absorption.
-Avoid Heat Sources: Place the arrangement in a cool place away from direct heat sources, such as radiators or strong sunlight.
-Remove Wilted Flowers: Remove any wilted roses or fallen petals to avoid bacterial growth and ensure that the other flowers remain fresh.

ARRANGEMENTS OF PRESERVED FLOWERS

Preserved roses are natural flowers that have undergone a preservation process to maintain their fresh appearance and softness for an extended period of time. Under the right conditions and with proper care, preserved roses can last much longer than fresh cut roses.
In general, preserved roses are expected to last at least several months and even up to a year or more, depending on several factors, such as:
-Care: Avoiding direct contact with sunlight, keeping them in a dry and protected environment, and not exposing them to excessive moisture will contribute to their durability.
-Handling: Handle them with care to avoid damage to the petals or flower structure.
-Environment: Environmental conditions, such as temperature and humidity, can affect the longevity of preserved roses.
It is important to note that, over time, preserved roses may experience a gradual change in appearance, losing some color and texture. However, if properly cared for, they should remain attractive for an extended period of time compared to fresh cut roses.

Caring for preserved roses differs slightly from caring for fresh flowers, as preserved roses have gone through a special process to maintain their beauty longer. Here are some tips on how to care for preserved roses:
-Avoid direct sun exposure: Place preserved roses in a place where they are not directly exposed to intense sunlight. Sunlight can fade colors and affect durability.
-Avoid excessive humidity: Keep preserved roses in a dry environment. Excessive humidity can affect the integrity of preserved flowers.
-Do not water them: Unlike fresh flowers, preserved roses do not need water. In fact, water can damage them, so be sure not to get them wet or spray them with water.
-Handle with care: Handle preserved roses gently to avoid damaging the petals or flower structure.
-Avoid constant touching: Avoid touching preserved roses with your hands frequently, as constant touching can affect the appearance of the flowers.
-Keep in an Indoor Environment: Preserved roses tend to be best kept in an indoor environment. Avoid placing them in outdoor areas exposed to inclement weather.
-Clean gently: If necessary, you can gently clean preserved roses with a feather duster or soft brush. Avoid using liquids or cleaning products.

-Do not refrigerate: Low temperatures also affect the appearance of the rose, condensation can be created and thus the rose would become wet and damaged immediately.
By following these tips, you can enjoy your preserved roses for an extended period of time, maintaining their beauty and elegance. Remember that, over time, they may experience a slight change in appearance, but with proper care, they should retain their charm for a long time.

To properly care for and maintain beeswax candles, it is important to follow some recommendations that will help prolong their lifespan and maintain their quality. Here are some tips on how to care for beeswax candles:
-Trimming the Wick: Before lighting the candle, be sure to trim the wick to about 1/4 inch in length. This helps prevent soot formation and ensures a cleaner burn.
-Initial Burn: On first use, allow the candle to burn for at least one hour. This helps prevent pitting and ensures an even burn on subsequent uses.
-Avoid Drafts: Place beeswax candles in a location where they will not be exposed to drafts. Drafts can cause the flame to flicker and cause an uneven burn.
-Do Not Leave Lit for Prolonged Time: Avoid leaving beeswax candles burning for long periods of time, especially unattended. This helps prevent overheating and warping of the candle.
-Correct Snuffing: Use a candle snuffer or cap to extinguish the candle instead of blowing it out. This helps prevent smoke and preserves the natural aroma of the beeswax.

Phalaenopsis orchids, also known as butterfly orchids, can have quite a long life span if properly cared for. Under ideal conditions, a well-cared for Phalaenopsis orchid can last several weeks or even months in bloom. Keep in mind that each plant is unique and results may vary depending on specific care conditions and environment. However, by following recommended care practices, you can prolong the beauty and health of your Phalaenopsis orchid for a significant period of time.

Here are some factors that can influence the life span of a Phalaenopsis orchid:
Ideal environment: providing proper care is crucial to prolonging the life of a Phalaenopsis orchid. This includes providing the right amount of light, water, temperature and humidity.
Indirect Light: Phalaenopsis prefer bright indirect light but not direct light. Placing them near an oriented window is usually adequate.
Controlled Watering: It is important to water Phalaenopsis orchids in a controlled manner, avoiding excess water that can cause root rot, this is achieved by the immersion method, which is described below:

  • Water Preparation: Use room temperature or slightly warm water. Avoid cold water, as it can cause stress to the orchid’s roots.
Container Selection: Choose a container large enough to completely submerge the Phalaenopsis orchid pot. It can be a bucket, tray or any other suitable container.
Submerging the pot: Submerge the pot with the orchid in the container with water until the water reaches about half the height of the pot. Avoid letting the water come in direct contact with the leaves or pseudobulb, as this can cause rotting.
Let Stand: Let the pot soak in the water for about 10-15 minutes. During this time, the growing medium (such as pine bark or sphagnum moss) will absorb water through the drainage holes in the pot.
Drain Excess Water: After 10-15 minutes, remove the pot from the water and allow the excess water to drain completely. Make sure the pot is not soaked and that the growing medium is moist but not saturated.
Repotting: Once the excess water has drained, place the Phalaenopsis orchid pot back in its usual place, making sure there is good air circulation around the plant.

This method of immersion watering allows the orchid’s roots to absorb the right amount of water without the risk of waterlogging. It is important to keep in mind that watering frequency may vary depending on environmental conditions and time of year, so it is advisable to observe the individual needs of your Phalaenopsis orchid to determine the best watering schedule.
-Suitable Temperature: Phalaenopsis thrive in moderate temperatures, avoiding sudden temperature changes and cold drafts.
-Fertilization: In general, it is recommended to fertilize Phalaenopsis orchids once a month during the active growing season. This may vary depending on the formulation and concentration of the fertilizer used, so it is important to follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Use a fertilizer specifically formulated for orchids, preferably with a balanced ratio of nutrients such as nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Slow-release or diluted fertilizers are common choices for Phalaenopsis orchids.

Care After Flowering: After the flowers fade, it is important to cut the flower stalk above a healthy node to encourage the development of new flowers.
Rest after flowering: Some Phalaenopsis may go through a period of rest after flowering, during which they may not produce new flowers but remain healthy. During this period, it is important to continue to provide basic care and wait for the plant to re-bloom in due time. Note: it is important for you to know that your non-flowering orchid is not dead, it is just in the resting stage, please don’t throw it away!
